| Sunday
21th March |
| On
Sunday we had breakfast at The Thai Teak House outside
in the fresh air. As usual George & I are up first so relaxed
over coffee while we waited for the others. After Breakfast
we had a wonderful guided tour through the markets, our
guides explaining all the food to us & then we had some
time to wander on our own. We then headed back to the Thai
House where the guys played cards outside, Judy sat outside
also & read a book while Marian & I sat on these wonderful
wooden rockers/recliners, listening to music & reading
mags on Thailand & this very wonderful Thai Teak House.
We then relaxed some more over a beautiful lunch. After
lunch we packed our gear & headed off for a very magical
longtail boat ride into Bangkok & hiked
back to the hotel. The sad part is that this day's photos
have disappeared. It appears that somehow as the memory
card filled it then replaced the photos. That is the only
explanation we can arrive at. I have tried to show a few
photos from the internet that may give you an idea of what
we saw. Very difficult as usually all the public photos
are all glitter, not the people on their steps washing
their clothes or crockery in the river. Some have larger
photos, others don't, such a shame we lost those photos,
there were some great ones there.

These
photos show it pretty much as it was, although the houses
certainly looked a lot older.
Bottom right is a Spirit House. |
| We
all met for tea, Damien led us down alleys, accross roads &
into this Thai restaurant. We never managed to find it again
but what great food & a lovely night. The end of our Intrepid
tour, would recommend them to anyone, great tours & Damien,
our guide was the BEST. |
Monday
22th March |
| Our
tour is over & only 2 days left. We fly out Wednesday. We are
having a wander & picking up our laundry, very necessary as
we had got to the stage of rewearing our clothes & trying to
rinse things out in a shower or handbasin. It has been an absolutely
fantastic trip, cannot begin to describe how much we have enjoyed
it, we are very tired physically but it has been worth it. |

It's
worth having a look at the larger photos,
there is a concrete
pour going on here & also out of site of the camera, on
left, are kids playing while their parents work. |
Discovered
this guy when we were getting our laundry, not sure how long before
he gets trodden on. |
Headed
over to see the waterfront, Palace etc. had one of thoses TukTuk
drivers who wanted to take us everywhere but where we wanted
to go but finally got there. Found
that area very oppressing, you were hassled to buy all the time,
sad stories from all. A totally different & almost unpleasant atmosphere
here compared to everywhere else we have been. Headed back to our
backpack area, much more exciting & interesting. |

A few shots around town plus some
night shots from the taxi
as we went to have our try-on for the
clothes that were being made. |
